PAUL GYNGELL (Tommy). The role of Tommy marks Paul Gyngell's first appearance with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Paul comes from a show business background and from the age of 10 he worked in all facets of theatre. His parents, Madge and Gerry, were a well-known vaudville act, so it was no surprise when Paul, brother Michael and sister Denise joined them. "After my first day at Stage School, I knew this was it!" TV Commercials, children's films and straight theatre were part of Paul's school days. The U.K. and Europe know Paul as a top actor, singer and dancer. He has appeared in many TV comedy shows, specials and game shows, and has sung and written a number of TV theme tunes. At present, he can be seen or heard everyday on British TV. Some musical credits in London's West End include Tom Brown's School Days, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and his award-winning success at the London Palladium in the spectacular production of Cinderella. Paul's film appearances include Victor/Victoria with Julie Andrews. Free time sees Paul on the golf course, working out, or writing songs. (He is currently writing English lyrics to Italian songs.) Whenever they can, the Gyngell family get together at the family "pub" for a good old English sing-song. He was last seen in the West End production of Grease.
