LINZI HATELEY (Carrie White) October 23, 1987, Linzi's 17th birthday was certainly a day to remember, for she learned that she was to be the RSC's youngest ever leading lady, having won the title role in Carrie. A pupil at London's famous Italia Conti Academy, she had just transferred from the schoolroom and was only four weeks into her first term as a student when she was called from class to hear that she had been offered the role. Linzi has been performing since she was a small child. After transferring from her local dance school in Tamworth to the larger one in Birmingham, she auditioned for Michael White's production of Annie. She was cast as one of the orphans abd sge impressed them enough to be invited to appear in their production again the following year. By the age of 13 she had decided that the profession was to be her chosen career and persuaded her parents to let her audition for various performing arts schools. All offered her places. Although tremendously supportive, her parents struggled to allow her the oppertunity to attend full-time training. Accomedation was found with friends in London where she lived during the week, to attend school, returning home on weekends. By the end of her first term BBC-TV had cast her in several episodes of its children's series "Grange Hill." She continued her educational and vocational studies, passing all her exams with honors. Her agent heard they were looking for "Carrie" and, confident of her talent, had no hesitation in submitting her, enabling her dream to appear on Broadway to come true. Since Carrie, she has appeared as the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Oliver nomination), Lady In The Dark, Anyone Can Whistle, Divorce Me, Darling and Little Red Ridinghood in Into The Woods. She can be heard on the cast albums of Jospeh, Lady In The Dark and Divorce Me Darling. She has released two solo albums, For The First Time and Sooner or Later, the latter of which contains the song "Carrie."
